Decorex 2019: Trend Forecast

The Decorum team visited this years Decorex at Olympia London to get an insight in to the latest trends, newest collections and most importantly, to better our knowledge so we can always provide our clients with the best.

All of us left feeling extremely inspired and more ready than ever to get designing…

Decorex is an international Interior Design show held each year to help brands showcase their best and newest designs as well as enable designers to find new companies to work alongside.

This year’s show presented so (SO!) many beautiful pieces and allowed us to establish the current trends that we all need in our lives with immediate effect.

SEMI PRECIOUS MATERIALS 🔮

One of the most interesting and purest themes we saw reoccurring as we wandered through the show was the use of semi precious materials ranging from rock crystal lights to quartz side tables. Each piece was unique and eye-catching.

This was definitely one of our favourites trends as not only is it stylish, but also natural and helps to create an elegant and timeless interior.

LIGHTING 💡

From rock crystal flute chandeliers to hand blown glass pendants, the possibilities were endless. It was really lovely to see lighting collections that were all so different from one another but the one thing they clearly had in common was the quality and elegance each one had.

Lighting can without a doubt be a piece of artwork when chosen correctly. These types of sculptural lighting styles can bring versatility and compliment any interior decor.

BOLD WALLPAPERS 🎨

Bold wallpaper is the perfect way to update a tired looking room - especially when they’re this exciting. The wide range of scenic wall coverings that we saw were carefully created with such precise detail and love to provide bold, beautiful and colourful art to your home.

Wallcoverings this bold are the perfect statement to any room and will add so much personality to your space. Transform your home in to an eclectic and vibrant wonderland with these newest designs.

TABLES 🌳

We really appreciate a good table - whether it be a coffee table, side table or a dining table. So when we saw some of these tables with finishes to die for at Decorex we fell in love.

Coming in a variety of finishes and styles, each one is fitting for anyone’s space. As some sort of table in your home is a necessity, aim for one with a stone or stained oak top. It’ll instantly be an ornamental addition you’ll wish you’d always had.

Lacquered Walls

What we really want to start seeing is our newest crush; lacquered walls. Shout out to style guru Ashley Stark Kenner for inspiring us. But if you fancy giving it a go, you have two options: bring in the professionals, or attempt it yourself. DISCLAIMER: it ain’t cheap and we’ll explain why below…

Investment Pieces

Investment Pieces

We were shocked to learn that 22 million pieces of furniture are thrown out of homes every year. With the environment under such threat, we think it’s super important for everyone to start thinking more economically by investing in furniture and decor that you’re not going to fall out of love with in years to come. This doesn’t mean to say they need to be expensive, just that we shouldn’t approach design with such a disposable outlook…

Patterned Outdoor Tiles

Patterned Outdoor Tiles

If you've read our recent post on outdoor furniture, you’ll realise we've got BBQs and frosé on our minds at the moment. I’ve been looking for patterned tiles for my own patio after being left feeling inspired by lots of Pinterest-worthy images scattered over the internet. The beauty of a lot of these tiles is that they can be used indoors and outdoors, so why not even start them in your living space and take the same pattern out into the garden to give that open indoor / outdoor feel?
